Integrating an AI chat bot feature, powered by Chat GPT into the Orchyd app.
As AI technology continued to boom, Orchyd was eager to stay ahead of the curve by introducing Blossom. They had already experimented with integrating AI into the app but brought me on to ensure the feature was not only functional but also exciting, seamless, and user-friendly.

I wanted to create a clear visual distinction between Orchyd MD and Blossom while ensuring both features could share the same "home" within the app. Previously, tapping the center tab opened the Blossom chat directly. My approach was to modify the existing Orchyd MD home tab to include both features, each with its own identity but still accessible from the same place.
To address the bulk messaging issue, I designed a solution that felt more aligned with Orchyd’s mission. I introduced a new info card (similar to Orchyd MD’s) where users could learn more about Blossom at their own pace. For the Terms and Conditions, instead of burying them within the chat, they now appear as a pop-up when the user opens Blossom for the first time—ensuring that the introduction to this exciting new feature isn’t bogged down by legal jargon.
The chat experience itself was redesigned to feel more inviting. Instead of starting with a long stream of messages, users now receive three short, friendly messages. Below the chat, I added intuitive suggestions to explore AI capabilities, quick access to Orchyd MD if a medical professional might be needed, and an easy way to end the chat—all without overwhelming the user.
This project was my first time working with AI, and it was an exciting opportunity to learn and experiment with new technology. When the update launched, Orchyd received overwhelmingly positive feedback, and the app’s rating rose to 4.7 stars in the app store.
Working with AI taught me the importance of balancing cutting-edge technology with a user-first design approach. I was able to combine my UX expertise with Orchyd’s goal of creating a trustworthy and empowering space for users, resulting in a feature that not only worked well but felt approachable and easy to use. This project was a great learning experience, and I’m excited to apply these skills to future AI-driven projects.
